If you are planning a move to Calgary, Alberta in the near future, you are probably considering which neighborhood or area of the city is best for you. Depending on your circumstances, you will probably have certain preferences and characteristics you are looking for in a neighborhood.

If you are a young professional, you may want to live closer to downtown. If you have a family, you may be more interested in a neighborhood with good schools and plenty of parks. With all of this in mind, consider these best neighborhoods to move to in Calgary:

Brentwood

Brentwood is considered by many to be one of the top neighborhoods in Calgary. It is located right outside of the central city area, so you would avoid most of the bustle of downtown, but close enough to be a convenient commute by bus or train for work or entertainment.

Brentwood is also near Nose Hill Park, for those who love the outdoors, and the University of Calgary for those looking to further their education or those who have older children at home.

Brentwood is also a standout Calgary neighborhood for families, offering great schools and a tight-knit community. Brentwood would be a great option for a variety of people who are considering a move to Calgary.

Beltline

If you want to be darn close to the heart of the city in a popular and trendy neighborhood, Beltline is the pick for you. It is located just southwest of Downtown, and provides an easy commute for work.

17th Ave is also located in Beltline. 17th Ave is a large entertainment and shopping district, full of boutiques, yoga studios, nightlife venues, and other amenities. Beltline is also home to a design district with plenty of galleries and furniture shops.

Beltline definitely appeals to those who want the hustle of the city, and there are plenty of apartments and condos available for sale and for rent.

Edgemont

If living near the center of the city is not for you, consider the neighborhood of Edgemont. Located on a hilltop in the northwest part of the city, Edgemont is a great neighborhood for those who want to live near the city but also crave the outdoors. Edgemont’s location, surrounding the Edgemont Ravine, provides many opportunities for walking, hiking, and cycling the various pathways in the area.

Like Brentwood, Edgemont is also conveniently located to Nose Hill Park, providing even more green spaces for those who enjoy outdoor recreation.

Edgemont is widely considered one of the safest neighborhoods in Calgary, and also has an elementary and junior high school, making it appealing to families. Country Hills Village, which has everything residents need from stores to restaurants to medical offices to mechanics, is also nearby.

If you are ready to make the big move, and one of these neighborhoods stood out to you, be sure to do some research on the Calgary homes for sale in your preferred area. With the many great neighborhood options available in Calgary, you are sure to find something that meets your needs.
