Suzuki Gixxer SF 250: Style and sportiness rolled into one

The 250cc motorcycle segment has been improving and evolving and Suzuki has chosen to move in this direction. Suzuki aspires to accomplish with the SF 250 what it did some years ago with the Gixxer 150 – a motorcycle that helped Suzuki gain traction in the market. The Gixxer SF 250 takes the game forward with a full fairing, better performance and sportier dynamics.

Engine

Packed neatly within the frame is a 249cc, single-cylinder engine that produces 26.1bhp and 22.6Nm of torque. The motor is oil-cooled and comes paired to a 6-speed manual transmission. The Suzuki Gixxer SF 250 is BSVI-compliant.

Specifications

The Suzuki Gixxer SF 250 is a very sporty looking motorcycle. At the front, it gets an arrow-type design LED headlight with a stubby visor above. It gets a lot of sharp cuts and creases alongside the bodywork. The fairing is neatly done, and it gets a well contoured, muscular tank. The tail section too is very sharp to look at and the tail light is smartly designed. Also, what really stands out is the dual-port exhaust. Even the alloy wheels look pretty cool. The all-digital instrument cluster looks neat. There’s a lot of information that’s shown like the gear position indicator, speedometer, trip meters, Eco/Power indicator and tachometer. The quality of the switchgear is good. In terms of dimensions, the Gixxer SF 250 is 2010mm in length, 740mm in width and 1035mm in height. The engine loves to be revved. And the gearbox is a smooth-shifting unit. It can manage reaching a top speed of 154kph. The bike has enough grunt for the city and the highway. It puts all the power down in a very linear way. At 161kgs, the bike’s weight is light and nimble. The ground clearance, on the other hand, is 165mm, while the bike has a wheelbase of 1345mm and a seat height of 800mm.

Mileage

The Suzuki Gixxer SF 250 has a fuel tank capacity of 12 litres. In terms of mileage, the bike is capable of returning 38.5kmpl by ARAI, in BSVI guise.

Mechanical Parts

The rider tends to lean forward a bit, but the overall seating posture is upright, which makes it very comfortable for the rider. Your feet touch the ground without any issues. The foot-pegs are positioned in the centre, and along with the wide handlebar, it makes for a very convenient posture. The bike boasts of a split-seat setup. The cushioning is a bit on the firm side and there is less space for the pillion. The grab-handle feels perfect to hold on to. The handling of the bike is decent; it doesn’t really enjoy sharp turn-ins. The bike is not as agile as the SF 150. The rear suspension is a bit on the stiffer side and the braking isn’t quite as instantaneous as we would’ve liked. The bike stays sure-footed at high speeds. At the front, the bike rides on telescopic, oil-damped suspension, while the rear gets mono suspension. As far as the chassis is concerned, it is built around a diamond-type frame. The Gixxer SF 250 runs on 110/70 R-17 tyres at the front and 150/60 R-17 tyres at the rear. Retardation duties are taken care of by disc brakes at the front and at the rear.

The bike comes loaded with a slew of features like a rear tyre-hugger, ABS, digital instrument cluster, grab handle, clip-on handlebar, twin-port exhaust, LED headlamp and tail lamp and a split seat.

The Suzuki Gixxer SF 250 is available in three shades like Metallic Matte Platinum Silver, Racing Blue and Metallic Matte Black. Racing Blue is certainly a colour that is bound to be a favourite among young riders.
